Bathroom Remodel Plumbing

A bathroom remodel often starts with a homeowner wanting a new layout—moving a toilet, adding a double vanity, or converting a tub to a shower. You call a plumber because the walls are open and the floor is up, and the old pipes need to be rerouted to match the new plan. The situation is messy, the timeline is tight, and the plumbing has to be right before the tile and drywall go in.

We start by shutting off the water and draining the lines. Then we cut into the existing copper or PEX supply lines and ABS or PVC drain pipes to reroute them to the new fixture locations. We install new shutoff valves, trap arms, and vent connections, then pressure-test the system. After the rough-in passes inspection, we set the tub, toilet flange, and sink drain, and connect the trim once the walls are finished.

Every job differs based on how far fixtures move from the existing stack. Moving a toilet across the room means cutting into the slab or joists, which adds time. Access matters too—crawlspaces and attics are easier than concrete slabs. The condition of old galvanized pipe can force a full repipe. Fixture type also changes the work: a freestanding tub needs a floor-mounted faucet and a dedicated drain, while a curbless shower requires a linear drain and a sloped subfloor.

On the day of work, we lay down drop cloths and runner boards to protect your floors. We cut drywall only where necessary and patch it cleanly. Each evening we sweep, bag debris, and haul it out. Before we arrive, clear the area of furniture and personal items. After we finish, you’ll need to schedule the drywall and tile work around the rough-in, and we’ll return to set the fixtures once the walls are painted.

After the rough-in is approved, we come back to install the faucets, showerheads, toilet, and sink. We check every connection for leaks under pressure and verify the hot-cold alignment. We also flush the lines to clear any debris. You’ll be left with a fully functional bathroom, and we’ll walk you through the shutoff locations and any maintenance tips for the new fixtures.
